About This Workshop

Herod the Great is the New Testament’s villain that everyone loves to hate. Yet only a small part of our knowledge of this historical figure comes from the Bible. Herod was one of the savviest political masterminds of his day, rubbing elbows with the likes of Julius Caesar, Mark Antony, Cleopatra, and Augustus. In this inter-disciplinary look at his life, Classical archaeologist Regan Barr explores the extra-Biblical literary and archaeological evidence that’s guaranteed to hold a few surprises.
