| Throughout the Bible we discover that where we are going profoundly shapes how we live now. Whether that's the Israelites on the way to the promised land, or us on the way to the New Heaven on the New Earth. But none of us have experienced the New Heaven/New Earth - how can we talk about it and understand it? This is where imagination comes into its own. Imagination isn't about 'making stuff up' but rather it's about bridging the gap between the known and the not-yet-experienced. It helps us move from what is in front of us to what could be. As such it is vital as we seek to grasp where we are heading so that we can learn to live now. In this workshop Michael will be showing participants how the Bible writers used imagination to understand the true things of eternity. He'll also give us a grounding for how to use imagination so that it doesn't become merely flights of fancy. And through this he will seek to give a renewed excitement about what's to come and how it can transform our lives today. |
