One of the most difficult aspects of teaching history is to teach recent history. As adults, we always assume the kids have lived through our experiences. Of course, they haven't. How do you go about teaching recent history objectively? What kinds of sources do you use, and how do you validate them? Most importantly, how to you deal with the key issue of "significance?" Why are we studying this election/war/protest/social change vs. another? This workshop will provide some answers for parents.
