About This Workshop

Social dancing refers to the art of dancing together in a social setting, as opposed to performance-based dancing (like ballet or tap). It includes a wide range of dance styles, such as line dancing, partner dances, multicultural dances, and popular current dances. The dances are fun and serve as a lifetime skill that can be enjoyed in various settings – at a prom, wedding reception, or event. It boosts self-confidence, peer collaboration, and cultural appreciation. Many families find that adding a dance session once a week promotes a sense of rhythm, movement and connection that enhances their child’s overall learning experience.

Christy will show you how to incorporate social dance into your homeschooling schedule and how to plan a fun dance event or prom in your community. She’ll also touch on how multicultural and barn dances are a unique way to explore history and traditions and how leading and following can translate into leadership skills. And of course, she will teach simple dances you can do in a limited space!
