More than 18 million children (25%) in the United States live in a home without the presence of their biological father, step father, or male figure. We will discuss how, CHILDREN IN FATHER-ABSENT HOMES ARE: oTwice as likely to drop out of school oTwice as likely to repeat a grade in school. We will discuss barriers to father involvement in schools and how that has an affect on the students. We will discuss solutions to getting fathers more involved in their student's education. Participants will leave with tools that will equip them to engage fathers. They will also get a clearer understanding of the barriers fathers face to school involvement.
