Using remote learning an LMS online time is tracked by students logging into their accounts and completing their work. This work can include content, engagement activities, and tests. But, what about working offline or phones calls from the schools? You can track students time by adding offline time. ODE has approved that students are able to add this offline time. Per ODE, across Ohio, remote learning can be viewed as a continuum, as shown in the graphic below, depending on the unique circumstances of a school, its educational delivery partners and the connectivity, abilities, disabilities and ages of students. If possible, remote learning plans should include an array of learning opportunities that are both online and offline to accommodate these unique circumstances. Teacher-student interaction through online learning platform -> Online lessons for students to work on at home -> offline lessons and instructional packets for students -> Regular teacher-student check-ins (small and large groups) E-schools have learning opportunities that are not tracked by the school’s online system and/or that take place offline or not on a computer. Schools also need to track student offline learning opportunities and have those opportunities checked and approved by teachers. This includes Non-computer, Non-classroom Learning Opportunities Reading, research, completing assignments offline, phone calls with students to discuss coursework, field trips and credit-bearing work experience are examples of non-classroom-based learning activities and should be certified by a teacher. However, travel time to and from state testing and field trips cannot be included. With the Virtual Learning Academy LMS not only can students add this time but teachers and admins can do this as well. Not only can time be added but attachments such as PDF activities, JPEG’s and MP4’s of students completing said activities can be added as evidence of offline time |
