Shane Smithman

“I’m just not good at math, Mr. Smithman.” This is the terrifying sentence that propelled Shane into the classroom, and eventually to collaborate with his brother, Rhett, on Homeschool Ladder. Together, they are on a mission to bridge the gap between confused middle school students and the rockstars Rhett employs in his chemistry research lab. Shane is driven by the belief that every student can excel when given the right tools.
Shane has a Bachelor’s degree from Duquesne University and a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from Clemson University, with certifications in Middle Level Math and Social Studies. He resides in Greenville, SC, and when he is not “nerding out” about teaching, he enjoys traveling, reading, and chasing after his toddler sons.
