| Nell Branum is the award-winning author of the Heroes on the Home Front Mysteries series (Moody Publishers) for middle-grade readers ages 8-12, as well as historical non-fiction picture books that she co-wrote with her parents. She is a former magazine editor and children’s librarian, and has been a published writer of missions-centered curriculum for preschoolers and children for more than 45 years. As an educator, Nell knows the value of literature-based learning. As a devoted Christ-follower, she has a heart for helping kids understand that not only is it okay to be a Christian, it is actually smart. With a degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education, a Master’s in Library and Information Services, a seminary graduate degree in Religious Education, and decades of telling stories to children, both inside her home and outside it, Nell knows that stories are often magnets that draw children (and all of us), helping us discover and internalize truths, relevance, faith, role models, and more. Having found herself in a new chapter after the death of her minister husband, Nell now writes for children from her small-town home in Alabama. She keeps chickens in the back yard, enjoys blueberry-flavored coffee whenever possible, and is always ready for an adventure with her grown kids and nine grandchildren, including but not limited to international trips and helping each of her grands to write and publish a book during their third grade year on whatever topic they would like. |
