Jeff Schaefer is a technology professional with more than 25 years of enterprise software system design, development, and consulting experience. Jeff has earned a variety of industry certifications from Microsoft, Google, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). During his consulting career, Jeff worked extensively in the roles of system architect, lead developer, technical trainer and project manager. Clients and employers include Wells Fargo Bank, AT&T and the United States Department of the Interior. His last full-time employment position was senior applications architect for the RAND Corporation. Jeff moved on from the RAND Corporation in early 2010 to focus full-time on the development his company, Smart Access I.T., Inc.
Homeschool Data Bank, which is a data management system by Smart Access I.T., began when Jeff was approached in 2004 by a local homeschool support group who requested assistance with academic records management. Having been homeschooled and understanding the culture of homeschool, Jeff agreed and recruited his long-time assistant, Krista Goodman (also homeschooled), to collaborate on the conceptualization and construction of Homeschool Data Bank. What emerged was a system truly useful for homeschooling parents and educators, accommodating their diverse teaching preferences and styles and requirements for flexibility, while delivering a useful set of academic reports that should satisfy most reporting needs.
