Heather Rathnau, NCTM

Theory Time author and music educator Heather Rathnau, NCTM graduated Magna Cum Laude from Baylor University, earning both Bachelor & Master of Music Degrees. She teaches piano, voice and music theory from her private studio in Houston and has actively served the homeschooling community for years.

Heather is creator of the very popular Theory Time K-12 & Medallion Workbook Series, K-12 Reproducible Curriculums and Music Theory teaching aids, and recently produced a new video instruction website for all of the Theory Time K-12 workbooks. In 2020, she authored a new music theory curriculum for the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) annual Festival Theory Event with corresponding annual grade level tests for 15 levels - including the new Pre-Music Reader Levels A & B for young children. Theory Time workbooks are the official study resource for the NFMC national music theory testing program.

Heather was named Texas Music Teachers Association Teacher of the Year in 2011 and has served in various local, state and national association leadership positions over the years. She is also an active adjudicator for the National Piano Teachers Guild Auditions.

Heather and her husband, Ron are active members of Second Baptist Church in Katy, Texas. They have two daughters and seven grandchildren.
