Chera Meredith is a Christian homeschool mom who embarked on the adventure of making a video game when her son, age five, asked for a "big kid video game." As Chera looked to find something that fit the bill, she realized there weren't many good options, and felt like God called her to make one herself. This led her on a journey of learning how to code, how to design video games, and how to navigate the ever-growing world of video games/apps as a Christian homeschool parent. In the process, Chera and her husband created an indie game development studio (So Peculiar), and have attended video game conferences ranging from GDC (the Game Developers Conference, the leading secular game developer conference) to CGDC (the Christian Game Developers Conference), to Momo Con (one of the largest anime and gaming conventions in the country) and everything in between. This year, So Peculiar released Bug & Seek, an educational bug-catching simulator, on Nintendo Switch, Steam, and mobile. Chera is on the board of several Christian non-profits, including one for game development professionals.
