Special Events

The special events you’ll get to take part in at the Great Homeschool Conventions bring joy, fellowship, and tons of great information. Be sure to add a few when you register online. In the meantime, check out more information about your options.

The Real Mom Tour

The potential for homeschool burnout is real, even after years and years of educating your children at home. But so is the risk of diving in with the best of intentions only to feel as if you’re sinking fast. The ladies who make up The Real Mom Tour panel know about these feelings and many more that are apt to take over our minds when things get hectic. But they also know how to push through when times get tough.

You won’t want to miss these conversations. As you listen in, you’ll find that a little encouragement, faith, and determination can prove you’re better than you thought you were at this thing called homeschooling.

Thanks to our faithful and generous financial supporter, Medi-Share, you’ll be able to take advantage of special pricing for this must-see event. Pay $3 when you purchase online with your convention registration or $5 at the door.

Slugs & Bugs LIVE with Randall Goodgame

As parents, we want our children to know that faith can be fun, exciting, and easier to adhere to than the world currently wants them to believe. Randall Goodgame helps bring this reality to life with an exciting musical adventure you certainly won’t want to miss. Join him and his lovable cast for an interactive concert experience that includes energetic vocals, animated videos, and Scripture songs that will help hide the Word in your hearts forever.

We’re so thankful that our generous sponsors, Medi-Share and World News Group, have made these special prices available. When you plan this event along with your online convention registration, you’ll pay just $3 for general seating and $5 for priority seating.

Jonnie W.

When Jonnie isn’t doing his own events, you’ll find him alongside fellow-comedian Tim Hawkins on the Rockshow Comedy Tour. These are sold-out shows where Jonnie adds his outstanding vocal and musical ability to his unique sense of humor, and you’ll get to experience that for yourself when you add this event to your convention schedule. You won’t want to miss it!

Missionary Gracia Burnham

If you’re not already familiar with Missionary Gracia Burnham, you won’t want to miss her gripping presentation. She and her husband, Martin, were long-time missionaries who raised and educated their children on the mission field. However, they were taken captive during their wedding celebration in 2001 by the Abu Sayyaf Group and endured more than a year of captivity.

Gracia has written two books since returning home, including In the Presence of My Enemies. During this event, she’ll speak about all the details of her life and missionary work, about homeschooling her children overseas, and about picking up the pieces after captivity.

Workshops

Workshops are like training sessions on particular topics that are common amongst homeschoolers. Even if you find yourself in a specific niche in the homeschooling world, some topics may be necessary for you in the future. High school and college topics easily fit into this category and are well worth taking the time to sit in on for the knowledge you’ll gain.

There are hundreds of these workshops to choose from at this year’s convention, and you’ll want to take advantage of many of them. Listen in, take notes, and be sure to plan ahead, so you don’t miss out. Here are some of the many workshops you’ll have to choose from when you visit us:

  • The Gentle Art of Teaching Reading – Julie Ross
  • Teaching Boys and Teaching Girls: Towards a Better Understanding – Andrew Pudewa
  • Raising Truly Obedient Children – Sean Allen
  • Only One Way? Why Jesus is Necessary – Brett Kunkle
  • Moving from Checklist to Meaningful Learning – Ashley Wiggers
  • Look out SAT and ACT, There’s a New Test in Town – the CLT – Jean Burk
  • Everything You Need to Know About Homeschooling High School – Made EASY – Ann Karako
  • Do I Really Have To Do Experiments? – Dr. Jay Wile

Special Track Sessions: There are just some topics that need more coverage. That is why we offer special tracks of multiple sessions on a specific topic. New to homeschoolers need guidance. We offer extra help with Homeschool 101 and Homeschool Help Desk workshops. Special needs children need a little extra care from parents who are helping them reach their full potential. Teens of today are faced with so many challenges. What are some of the most used philosophies of education in homeschooling and why are they so popular? How does one help their high schooler prepare for college? We can help! By providing experts in their field to discuss all those important topics, parents are given encouragement and fresh ideas of ways to reach their homeschooling goals. Our special tracks are: Homeschool 101, Homeschool Help Desk, Real Faith for the Real World Teen Track, Classical and Charlotte Mason Tracks, Special Needs Track, Literature-Rich Track - learning through reading literature, and the College Track. All these tracks are labeled in the program guide on the schedule so you can easily find those track sessions you want to attend. If you miss a session while at the convention or you want to listen to a session over again, we have recordings available for purchase at the event. Check out our special tracks here.

Exhibitors

Finding the perfect homeschool curriculum and resources is extremely important for your success. Ordering online is convenient and alleviates the need to travel to store after store to pick up the products yourself. However, there’s nothing quite like being able to see a vast selection of curriculum options, add-ons, and resources up close and in person and all in one huge exhibit hall!

At the Great Homeschool Conventions, our massive exhibit halls give you this same opportunity, allowing you not only to flip through each curriculum piece in person but also allowing you to speak with company representatives and many of the actual curriculum authors right on the spot. You can also talk to other convention-goers who may have used the curriculum you’re considering now, giving you excellent inside knowledge.

Be sure to take your time and browse all your options. Many vendors offer special discounts to convention attendees, and you can take advantage of those while you’re there. Be sure to make your purchases at the convention to support those mom and pop exhibitors who make the financial and time commitment to come to the conventions. To see a list of the vendors you’ll find at the Ohio 2021 Great Homeschool Convention, CLICK HERE.

Giant Cow Ministries is BACK for 2021! Kids can attend the Giant Cow day camp-styled event while you attend the GHC event. This optional event has rave reviews by parents and by children who want to attend each year! They love it. But! You will want to register early because they do sell out. A separate registration fee and a GHC family registration are needed to attend. Register your child here.
