In addition to hundreds of workshops and dozens of amazing speakers, you’ll find shopping in the Exhibit Hall to be an exciting adventure in itself! There’s no lack of new ideas for both brand new and homeschool veterans, with abundant helpings of encouragement for one and all.
By the end of this action-packed, information-filled weekend you’ll find yourself feeling more energized and better equipped to handle your upcoming homeschool year. You’ll not only have a ton of new ideas, but you will probably have scored some new curriculum pieces and resources to add to your plan. You certainly won’t be disappointed, so mark your calendars and make plans to secure your spot for all the amazing activities.
Until then, allow us to share some of the highlights you’ll get to take part in once you get there.
When you attend one of these special events, you can expect to expand your knowledge and get a healthy dose of entertainment as well. The fellowship is wonderful, too, so be sure to make note of your favorites. You won’t want to miss them!
Gracia Burnham – In the Presence of My Enemies
As someone who had always known the Lord, even as a child, Gracia went on to choose a music program at Calvary Bible College in Kansas City. She graduated with a Christian education bachelor’s degree.
While attending college she met the man that would become her husband. After spending some time training with New Tribes Mission, the two, who had married in 1983, went on to become Philippines missionaries in 1986. While there, Martin worked as a jungle pilot and missionary encourager while Gracia homeschooled their three children and maintained radio contact with Martin whenever possible.
While celebrating their 18th wedding anniversary at Dos Palmas Resort, however, a group of terrorists too them hostage. That very day began a 376-day captivity so horrible that they often despaired of survival.
To hear the rest of the story, and Gracia’s amazing testimony, be sure to secure your spot for this very special event!
The Real Mom Tour: You’re Better at This Than You Think
You are NOT alone. That is going to be an important take-away from this event. These ladies know what it is to become overwhelmed, as a new homeschooler, by all the major decisions you’ll have to make to get things started. They know the doubt that maybe you weren’t cut out for this after all. On the other hand, they also know that some veteran homeschoolers can eventually start to feel burnt out, like they’re no longer making a difference.
The good news is, during this event, you’re going to hear real talk from real moms that will result in real encouragement for anyone who might not be on top of their game. Do you want more contentment in your homeschooling endeavors? Would you like to fall in love with homeschooling or meet your kids right where they are? Then you’re going to want to be here with Colleen, Pam, and Sarah.
You’ll also get to take part in games and get some nice snacks too.
A preacher’s kid and homeschool survivor from Atlanta, Georgia, Andrew Stanley will bring his own brand of comedy, as well as a few deeply rooted insecurities, to the stage. Having performed at churches, fundraisers, conferences, and many other venues, he took the grand prize at the 2017 Search for the South’s Funniest Accountant. He was also part of both the 2018 and 2019 Laughing Skull Comedy Festivals, and he’ll be no less funny when you see him at this year’s Great Homeschool Convention!
Slugs & Bugs LIVE in Concert: Faith. Family. Funny. (Randall Goodgame)
Musician, Randall Goodgame, brings his friends, Doug the Slug, Morty and Maggie Raccoon, Sparky the Lightning Bug, and many other special guests with him for the Slugs and Bugs Workshop. This great cast, along with their music and imaginations, brings a wonderful demonstration of what it’s like to actually live out the Gospel in everyday life.
Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to “train up a child in the way that they should go”, but also to get a fun, adventure-filled hour of giggles and silliness.
This year’s Great Homeschool Convention workshops in New York are designed especially for you. We cover tons of topics and issues that will provide you with much-needed information for your homeschooling. It might be that not all the information will be relevant to exactly where you are now, but by taking notes, you can equip yourself for many future events. Take high school transcripts, for example. Your child may currently only be in the 9th grade, but a transcript is definitely something you’ll have to create, so why not acquire that vital information while there’s an opportunity to do so?

In the expansive Exhibition Center, you’ll find plenty of vendors offering resources and homeschool curriculum that you just won’t find elsewhere. Even better, unlike online shopping, you’ll be able to handle these pieces of curriculum and examine them in person. This helps you to make sure you’re purchasing something you’ll actually use, rather than waiting until the resources arrive at your home to make that call. It’s less stressful, less time-consuming, and can wind up saving you a ton of money.
Another benefit of browsing our exhibitor’s area is that you’ll be able to speak to real people and get real answers about materials you might otherwise know nothing about. One option is to talk with the creators of the curriculum you’re considering, getting in-depth information. Another possibility is speaking with other homeschoolers in attendance who might have already used that very resource. In addition to the browsing and information gathering, you will have greatly enjoyed this amazing time of fellowship with like-minded homeschoolers.
