Missouri: 2020 Great Homeschool Convention

November 20, 2019Stacey Lynn

Missouri is known as the “Show Me” state, and do we ever have a lot to show you!

Our 2020 Missouri Great Homeschool Convention will be held at the St. Charles Convention Center in St. Charles, MO March 26th through the 28th, 2020. You’ll have access to hundreds of workshops, jam-packed with great information, as well as dozens of outstanding speakers from whom you’ll be able to glean pertinent and worthwhile information. Additionally, there will be comprehensive curriculum and resources available, specifically for homeschooling families, in the large exhibit hall for you to browse through, choosing from among those relevant things that will make your homeschool year complete. There’s no better way to choose these resources than speaking with the very ones who have created or used them? Got questions? We’ve got the answers!

You’ll be glad you traveled to St. Charles, MO for this great time of fellowship and learning, whether you’re a veteran homeschooler or just getting started. With an action-packed weekend ahead, we suggest you wear comfy shoes and make sure to bring notebooks and pens or pencils for all the notes you’re to want to take while in attendance. We look forward to seeing you at this amazing convention, but first, let’s consider some of the most significant events of the weekend.

Special Events

Check out all of these events to help you schedule your weekend, so you’ll have a plan when you get there.

The Real Mom Tour: You’re Better at This Than You Think

Thursday night, 8 - 9:30 P.M.

Tickets: $3 in advance, thanks to generous financial support from Medi-Share, $5 at the door.

It’s easy to become overwhelmed, as a new homeschooler, which can lead you to believe you’re simply “homeschool-teacher material”. At the same time, years of homeschooling can eventually wear you down, and burnout is something that more than one veteran homeschooler has had to contend with. The most important thing to take-away from this encouraging talk is that you’re not alone. Here are a few of the topics you’ll hear about on The Real Mom tour:

  • Finding contentment in the social media age
  • Falling more in love with homeschooling without adding more work
  • Enjoying your kids in the homeschooling process without sacrificing academics

Come join Pam, Sarah, and Colleen for a healthy dose of real mom encouragement as well as games, snacks, and tons of fun.

Slugs & Bugs LIVE in Concert: Faith. Family. Funny. (Randall Goodgame)

Friday, 5:30 - 6:30 P.M.

Tickets: $3 for general seating, $5 for priority seating, thanks to generous financial support from Medi-Share and World News Group

Doors open at 5 P.M. for Priority Seating ticket holders, and 5:15 P.M. for General Seating ticket holders.

This musical experience is not only magical and interactive, but it’s also filled with joy, a celebration of life, and a great Gospel message! Refreshing music and vocals, and animated videos lead to the core message: that between “real life” and “God-life” there is no separation. All things are sacred when Jesus is the focal point of all things.

Phil Vischer, who created VeggieTales and What’s In the Bible, had this to say about Randal: “Randall Goodgame is a funny, funny guy. Slugs & Bugs is good stuff!”

Andrew Stanley

Friday, 8:00 - 9:00 P.M.

You’ll love this stand-up comedian, Andrew Stanley, who also happens to be a homeschool survivor. Based out of Atlanta, GA, he speaks about his observations with a great sense of humor that is both wry and dry. He is a regular performer at venues such as churches, conferences, and fundraisers, and he won the grand prize in 2017 at the Search for the South’s Funniest Accountant. You might also know that he was chosen for the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival in both 2018 and 2019. But even if you don’t, you won’t want to miss out on your chance to watch his performance at the 2020 Missouri Great Homeschool Convention.

In The Presence of My Enemies - Missionary Gracia Burnham

Saturday, 6:00 - 7:00 P.M.

Gracia Burnham and her husband were captured by a terrorist group in 2001. They were then held captive for 376 days, during which time they had to endure extreme hardships. The ordeal ended with Gracia’s husband, Martin, getting killed in a firefight between the terrorist group and the military. Gracia now resides in Rose Hill, Kansas, and has authored two books, In the Presence of My Enemies and To Fly Again. She speaks all over the United States at colleges, churches, and conferences.
