California: 2020 Great Homeschool Convention

December 4, 2019Stacey Lynn

Eureka! There’s “gold” in the halls of the 2020 California Convention! Taking place at the Ontario Convention Center on June 18-20, it promises to be a weekend jam-packed with fun, information, and fellowship. You can expect to mine tons of great knowledge from the rich veins of available workshops and many featured speakers.

In the large exhibit hall, you’ll get hands-on access to extensive curriculum options and many other relevant resources. Better still, you can even speak directly to the creators of that curriculum as well as those who have used it. What better way to get a real story about how the curriculum plays out once it’s put into use? The bottom line is, if you’ve got questions, we’ve got the answers!

When you arrive at this year’s Great Homeschool Convention in California, you’ll realize that it doesn’t matter if you’re just getting started or if you’re a veteran homeschooler. There’s much to be gleaned from this exciting weekend. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes for the event and be certain to bring a means of taking notes. To help you schedule our Special Events into your weekend plans, let’s take a look at some of those glittering highlights:

The Real Mom Tour: You’re Better at This Than You Think

Thursday: 8:00 PM - 9:30 PM

Tickets: $3 in advance, thanks to generous financial support from Medi-Share, $5 at the door.

These moms want you to know, you are not alone, even if you think you’re not cut out for homeschooling! On the other hand, you might be feeling a little burned out from years of teaching. Either way, you won’t want to miss the encouragement you’ll get from these ladies. Come in and listen to chats about contentment, how to love homeschooling right where you are, while meeting your kids right where they are.

There will be snacks, games, and surprises galore, so make sure to set aside this time for Colleen, Sarah, and Pam!

Andrew Stanley

Friday: 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM

All the way from Atlanta, Georgia, this preacher’s kid (and homeschool survivor) brings a ton of smiles to the faces of all in attendance! He isn’t afraid to make light of deep-rooted insecurities and even though he’s afraid, he’s plowing through anyway. His dry sense of humor and personal style has made audiences all across the country enjoy each and every show.

Having performed regularly for churches, conferences, fundraisers, and more, it’s no wonder he was the grand prize recipient of the 2017 Search for the South’s Funniest Accountant. You won’t want to miss this Friday night show and Andrew’s amazing life comedy.

In The Presence of My Enemies - Missionary Gracia Burnham

Saturday: 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Gracia Burnham has been a servant of the Lord for almost all of her life, learning to sing hymns even before she knew how to read. Baptized at a very young age, she went on to attend and graduate Calvary Bible College in Kansas City. Here, she met a fellow student named Martin Burnham who quickly took an interest in her.

The two were married in 1983 and wound up in the Philippines as Missionaries by 1986. Still serving overseas in this country and after the births of their three children, Jeffrey Paul, Melinda Joy, and Zachary Scott, they decided to celebrate their 18th wedding anniversary at a nearby resort. While there, they were taken captive by a group of terrorists, which was the start of an arduous journey they sometimes felt they wouldn’t survive.

Hear the rest of Gracia’s gripping tale of living as a prisoner and the heart-wrenching details that followed when you attend this event.
